In compliance with the State Department of Health Services (DHS) Regional Perinatal Programs of California (RPPC) contract, PAC/LAC convened the Perinatal Hospital Based Leadership Committee beginning in October 2005. Committee members include hospital based and public health perinatal leaders, such as perinatologists, neonatologists, obstetricians, pediatricians, nurse managers, NICU nurses, and labor & delivery nurses.
The goal of the committee is to improve quality of care leading to optimum health outcomes by addressing management and leadership issues in hospitals. It seeks to achieve this by fostering communication between hospital leaders and strengthening linkages to community and public health resources. The members come together to identify areas of concern and indulge in problem solving exercise on policies, issues and concerns that affect the hospital perinatal units in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles county hospitals.
PHBL meets three times a year to coordinate activities that support quality improvement through consultation, collaboration, education and dissemination of information on topics that are identified by the members as central to providing optimum quality of care.
