Subject: SB 246 Update
Good morning everyone,
I'm writing with the most recent news of Senate Bill 246. The political scene seems to move quickly, and while we were supposed to be on a plane this afternoon in anticipation of the Assembly Appropriations committee hearing tomorrow, our plans have suddenly changed. The bill has once again been placed in the Appropriations Suspense file to be heard towards the end of next week. Despite our best efforts in pre-empting the fiscal determination, the Appropriations analyst still felt that the bill would result in a loss of revenue to the Department of Health Services. Due to the extremely large number of bills scheduled to be heard tomorrow in committee, many bills deemed to have this negative financial impact were placed in the same situation as ours.
We will continue to work with Senator Figueroa's office and the CHA to explore all remaining opportunities for the bill's success during the remainder of this legislative session.
Action Alert: The bill CAN still be voted out of suspense file, which is where all of our efforts will be directed later this week and early next week. We will keep you posted and ask for your help in urging our contacts on the Appropriations committee to reconsider the importance of continuing to push SB 246 forward.
Thanks as always for your support,
Andrea
