Dear Maternal and Child Health Advocates,

 

Thank you for your continued support of SB 246 (Figueroa): Human Milk and your dedication to ensuring uninterrupted access to breast milk for all infants.

 

The bill will be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee on August 9th at 9am. This means that we need everyone to increase their advocacy efforts between now and August 9th. Please call, fax, and email members of the Assembly Appropriations Committee to let them know how important their YES on SB 246 vote is!

 

You will find that I have attached a list of all Assembly Appropriations Committee members and their contact information, as well as an updated phone script and key talking points in order to aid you in your advocacy efforts.  You will also see that the key talking points focus on communicating to legislators that: 1). SB 246 is cost neutral to the Dept. of Health Services (DHS), 2). It is likely to save DHS money by ensuring that preterm infants receive the preventive health benefits of uninterrupted access to breast milk, and 3). It does not create additional bureaucracy due to existing requirements under the Health and Safety Code.
