Program Description
This symposium is designed for physicians, nurses and other health care professionals
responsible for the care of mothers and/or neonates. The faculty will address the management
of various clinical situations that arise in the practice of obstetrics and neonatal care. Topics
presented will explore areas of rapid change with an emphasis on optimizing the outcome
for mother and infant.
Program Objectives
Upon completion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:
Define the role of magnesium sulfate in neuroprotection.
Describe intentional communication of fetal heart rate patterns.
Recognize legal and regulatory requirements of documentation.
Understand the use of progesterone in preterm labor.
Discuss stabilization measures in specific situations for newborns.
Address the increased risk for adverse outcomes related to maternal obesity.
Explain the initial management of congenital heart disease.
Use a practical approach to manage diabetes in pregnancy.
Identify the effects of early hypothermia on brain preservation.
